A major David Bowie retrospective will be held in Japan only in January next year

A major retrospective of David Bowie, known as one of the most influential artists of the 20th century, "DAVID BOWIE is," will be held at the Terrada Warehouse G1 Building in Shinagawa, Tokyo, from January 8 to April 9, 2017.

David Bowie, a unique artist who transcends the boundaries of musicianship and continues to inspire people not only in music but also in art, fashion, culture, and society. This major retrospective, "DAVID BOWIE is," will feature numerous works from the archives of David Bowie, who passed away in January of this year. The exhibition first began at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, England, in 2013 and has since traveled to Toronto, São Paulo, Berlin, Chicago, Paris, and Melbourne. Currently on view in Groningen, Netherlands, it has broken exhibition attendance records worldwide, attracting a total of more than 1.4 million visitors.

On January 8th, 2017, what would have been his 70th birthday if he were still alive, the only Asian exhibition in Japan will begin at Warehouse Terrada. Curated by the Victoria and Albert Museum, over 300 important and valuable items collected from the archives of David Bowie, who was also known to be a Japanophile, will be exhibited in the categories of music, design, theater, art and film.
