GU, whose brand message is "YOUR FREEDOM - the freedom to reinvent yourself," will begin selling its first collaboration collection with leading Japanese fashion brand UNDERCOVER at GU stores nationwide and online from April 9th.
Founded by Jun Takahashi in 1990, UNDERCOVER is a fashion brand that brings together various elements such as art, music, and subculture to create collections with a unique worldview. This collaboration, based on the keywords "FREEDOM/NOISE," combines UNDERCOVER's unique worldview, which aims to "create clothes that seem familiar yet no one has ever seen before," with GU's "FREEDOM" philosophy, which aims to allow everyone to enjoy fashion freely. This collection incorporates UNDERCOVER's signature street and modern designs, featuring original all-over patterns and graphics, into each item. The full lineup includes seasonal wear for both men and women, shoes to brighten up your summer feet, innerwear and loungewear to update your time at home, and even smartphone cases and other goods to brighten up your everyday life. From April 5th, an advance exhibition area expressing the world view of this collection will be set up exclusively at "GU STYLE STUDIO Harajuku." The entire lineup of this collection will also be on advance display, allowing you to get a sneak peek at the products.
Designer Jun Takahashi Profile
Born in Kiryu City, Gunma Prefecture. Graduated from Bunka Fashion College in 1991. While still a student, he started the fashion brand UNDERCOVER. He presented his first collection, the 1994-95 Fall/Winter collection, in Tokyo in 1994, and in 2002 he made his first appearance at Paris Women's Fashion Week with his 2003 Spring/Summer collection. In 2021 and 2021-22 Fall/Winter Men's and Women's collections, he presented his first show at Tokyo Collection in approximately 19 years.
