Vice Media Japan will launch the Japanese version of London-based fashion magazine i-D, titled i-D Japan, on May 19th. The website (http://i-d.vice.com/jp) also launched on the 19th.
i-D is a fashion magazine that covers the latest fashion and youth culture information from 10 countries around the world. It was launched in 1980 during the London punk era by Terry Jones, then the youngest art director at UK Vogue, as a new style of fashion magazine focusing on street culture. Today, as the world's number one fashion media outlet, it reaches a global audience. In addition to its traditional magazine and website, the media outlet has expanded its video presence to more expressively convey the essential appeal of fashion culture. In 2015, the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences (IADAS) won a Webby Award, a global award given to the most esteemed website and work of the year.
i-D Japan (800 yen including tax), the 11th country to join the i-D global group, is made up of 60% content from the UK, and 40% produced in Japan. It will convey fashion culture content from around the world to Japanese audiences, while also disseminating content from Japan to the global market. The magazine will be published twice a year, in May and October, with a planned circulation of 10,000 copies and 192 pages. The Japanese version of the website has also been available since April 19th.
