"VICE MAGAZINE THE PHOTO ISSUE," a creative magazine showcasing Japan from the unique perspectives of 19 of the world's leading photographers, will be published on April 28th.

"VICE MAGAZINE THE PHOTO ISSUE" is a free culture magazine published by "VICE," a digital media company based in 37 countries that develops original video content. It was launched in 2001 at the suggestion of Ryan McGinley, acclaimed as "America's most important photographer." To date, renowned photographers have participated, from Terry Richardson, Tim Barber, and Richard Kern to Martin Parr, Bruce Gilden, Roger Ballen, and Asger Carlsen.

This latest issue marks the first-ever "VICE MAGAZINE THE PHOTO ISSUE" to be produced entirely in Japan. Nineteen photographers from Magnum Photos, including Alec Soth and Antoine D'agata, will use photography to explore a variety of Japanese issues, including "What do we think about the issues of Fukushima, Hiroshima, and Okinawa?", "The new sexuality faced by LGBT people," "Young people gathering in Shibuya," "How do we address environmental issues?", and "What does ramen reveal about Japanese creativity?" The participants include Alec Soth, Yoshinori Mizutani, Keisuke Nagoshi, Katsumi Omori, Monika Mogi, Great The Kabukicho, Antoine D'agata, Daido Moriyama, Yuri Mabe, Naoki Ishikawa, Yusuke Yamatani, Miyako Ishiuchi, Ikuro Suzuki, Jesse Lizotte, Yoshihiro Tachiki, Ryuichi Ishikawa, Satomi Yamauchi, HOIKISYU, and Wataru Yamamoto. The magazine will be published in an extra-large size (330mm x 263.5mm), an unusual size for a free magazine.

A special website for this book will also be opened (http://jp.vice.com/vicemagazine/vice-magazine-cover-story).
