JIL SANDER is opening a pop-up shop titled "FIRE made in Japan" at The Stage on the first floor of the main building of Isetan Shinjuku until the 12th, selling its Japan-exclusive 2016 Spring/Summer capsule collection.
The "FIRE" in the shop name comes from the traditional, sturdy and durable construction technique of "yakisugi" (burnt cedar), which the Jil Sander design team discovered while visiting Okayama Prefecture, a denim-producing region. Inspired by this yakisugi, the collection's items express the unique texture of yakisugi in a modern way using Japan-made denim. The venue's decoration is inspired by the exterior walls of an old house in Okayama, with images of "flames" reflected on them, creating a world of yakisugi.
All items on sale at the venue are pre-sale items. The lineup includes both men's and women's items, including vests, skirts, and bottoms from the "Yakisugi" denim series, exclusive to Isetan Mitsukoshi, as well as blue denim outerwear and bottoms that show off beautiful faded colors and silhouettes, and cut-and-sew tops with graphic prints.
