The classic Panthella celebrates its 50th anniversary this year.
Pantella, designed by Verner Panton in 1971, celebrates its 50th anniversary this year. Its sculptural, timeless form is characteristic of Panton's designs. The hemispherical shade casts a soft, glare-free, diffused light into the surrounding space, while the downward light is reflected by the support post and trumpet-shaped base, creating a cozy atmosphere. Panton wanted to create a lamp in which both the shade and base act as reflectors.

The organic form and vibrant color variations are typical of Panton design, exuding timeless appeal. As a Danish designer active around the world, Panton possessed a unique sense of color, form, light, and space, and his colorful and unique personality caused a sensation.

About Designer Verner Panton
Verner Panton (1926-1998) was a unique Danish designer with a distinctive sense for color, form, and the function of light and space. His colorful and distinctive personality caused a sensation. Throughout his career, Panton introduced a succession of modern lamps with designs that set him apart from other Scandinavian designers. Believing in the infinite possibilities of form, he sought to create a new theory about the function and effects of light—and he succeeded. "The main purpose of my work is to force people to use their imagination more. Most people live their lives in a dreary world of gray and beige and are deathly afraid of using color. By experimenting with lighting, color, textiles, furniture, and the latest technology, I want to show new ways. I want to encourage people to use their fantasy and imagination to make their living environments more exciting," Verner Panton said. Panton had a clear stance on form, color, and function. At the same time, his bold use of new and different materials was not accepted as "timeless" in the design world at the time. Today's evaluation of his designs proves this to be false.
