Tom Christopher's solo exhibition depicting New York will be held at Galerie Tamenaga in Osaka

Jun 11, 2014

New York-based artist Tom Christopher's solo exhibition will be held at Galerie Tamenaga in the Hotel New Otani Osaka from June 19th. This marks his 18th exhibition at Galerie Tamenaga since his first in New York in 1993, with exhibitions in Paris, Tokyo, Osaka, and elsewhere. This exhibition features 30 pieces, including his latest works. His realistic depictions of New York, including skyscrapers, yellow cabs, bicycle messengers, and people on the move, are subtly distorted. Born in Hollywood, California in 1952, Christopher began painting New York in 1981, and his work is included in the collections of the Museum of the City of New York, CBS, and Time Warner. He created a mural at Rockefeller Center in 1995 and a large-scale mural in Times Square in 1998. His 2001 depiction of the World Trade Center garnered acclaim. He has held solo exhibitions not only in the United States but also in Switzerland and Germany.
