ⒸDaichi Ano, Louis VuittonThe much-anticipated Louis Vuitton Ginza Namiki-dori store will undergo a bold new look on Saturday, March 20, 2021 (national holiday). Developed through a dialogue of beauty by renowned architects Jun Aoki and Peter Marino, the naturalist-inspired building is full of stunning surprises both inside and out.
The building, located on the same street corner where Louis Vuitton has had a store since 1981, features an ultra-modern façade that interprets water reflections as a physical phenomenon. The poetic yet playful exterior, evoking a sense of movement and rhythm, is inspired by Tokyo's history as a port city. The water element, evocative of Ginza's former sandbar jutting out into the sea, is expressed through smoothly rippling surfaces—a glass façade that transmits changing colors, a distinctive staircase, and built-in interiors. The four-floor retail space features a permanent pop-in space showcasing seasonal new arrivals, with an upper floor dedicated to private salons. This exclusive store experience will also be available at "LE CAFE V," renowned chef Yosuke Suga's second collaboration with Maison Louis Vuitton. Additionally, "LE CHOCOLAT V," Louis Vuitton's first chocolate line, will be launched in late April.
Reflecting Ginza
The façade, designed by Jun Aoki, symbolizes a "pillar of water," with two layers of glass merging to represent the flow of water. The nearly seamless window frame curves like rippling waves, and its three-dimensional surface is accentuated by dichroic glass, which creates an infinite variety of colors. The exterior wall on the first floor facing the street reflects the dynamism of Ginza, while the exterior walls on the upper floors reflect the neighboring skyscrapers like rising waves, while a view of the sky spreads across the entire glass, indicating the passage of time throughout the day.
In the evening, the glittering, dancing reflections of light blend into the night sky, creating an illusion. A transparent opening, two stories high, curves along the street corner, creating a sense of perspective that continues into the expansive interior, where Louis Vuitton's signature window displays are displayed. Like a ceaseless flow
The organic beauty of the building is further enhanced by the interior design by Peter Marino: a central staircase unfolds like a ribbon of carved oak, edged with glass.
A second staircase at the rear of the store features a four-story-high feature wall that artistically reinterprets Kimiko Fujimura's painting Wave Blue Line (1977) in plaster.
The metaphor of the water cycle continues throughout the spatial design, and as you progress through the store, you will notice curved counters and ceiling panels that evoke the flow of water. Adding to this effect are furniture pieces by Morten Stenbeek and Isamu Noguchi, with light, rounded shapes and hints of wood and glass. Even the elevators evoke the image of water and sky, while the rippling metal surfaces, amplified by mirrors, create a playful impression of an endless horizon.

Store Navigation
The retail space occupies floors 1-4 of the seven floors. The first floor is dedicated to women's leather goods, watches & fine jewelry, and a permanent pop-in space, while the second floor is dedicated to women's leather goods, as well as accessories, travel, and fragrances. The third floor is dedicated to women's ready-to-wear and shoes, while the fourth floor above is entirely dedicated to men's items. A private salon is located on the sixth floor, and "LE CAFE V" is located on the seventh floor, the top floor.

A More Extensive Product Lineup
The Ginza Namiki-dori store offers the full lineup of the Maison's collections, from new releases to classics. To commemorate its opening, the store is releasing a limited-edition redesign of a leather bag originally designed by Rei Kawakubo for the "Icon and Iconoclast: Celebrating Monogram" project in 2014. The legendary designer's first collaboration with Louis Vuitton dates back to 2008. For the occasion, Rei Kawakubo designed six customized Monogram canvas bags, celebrating the Maison's approach to craftsmanship and savoir-faire, cultivated since the opening of the first Louis Vuitton store in Japan in 1978. Other exclusive items include men's LV Ori Line sneakers embellished with embroidery and pearls, a Monogram sequin dress with all-over embroidery, and a Tambour Slim watch featuring a beautiful gradient of blue and purple sapphires. Bags exclusive to the Ginza Namiki Dori store include the Capucines BB, featuring a timeless harmony of gray canvas and navy blue leather, and the Boite Pharmacy Monogram canvas makeup case, designed in collaboration with kabuki actor Ichikawa Ebizo XI.

Colorful Energy
The acid-toned furniture of Pierre Paulin and Stéphane Léau, as well as the colors of works by Ed Moses and Vik Muniz, infuse the store with vibrant energy. The placement of chairs, design objects, carpets, and art harmonizes with a variety of color expressions, shifting from impressionist-like pinks and oranges on the women's floor to saturated reds, turquoise, and limes on the men's floor. Furthermore, in the private salons, muted tones are mixed with pops of color, and the modular layout design creates a more spacious yet intimate setting. Additionally, the colours of abstract art by artists such as Kimiko Fujimura, Ida Tursik & Wilfried Mille, and Peter Deighton serve as an uplifting and stimulating theme in a variety of forms.
