Louis Vuitton releases new unisex fragrance "On the Beach" with the scent of yuzu and aromatic essential oils

Mar 16, 2021

Escape. An eternal escape—Louis Vuitton continues its emotional olfactory adventure with Parfums de Cologne, an unprecedented concept that perfectly blends the lightness of sparkling citrus with the depth of floral notes.

Four captivating melodies are sung by the four previously released scents: "Sun Song," which evokes the soothing light of sunlight; "Cactus Garden," which evokes the breeze and vegetation of an exotic patio; "Afternoon Swim," which evokes a joyous plunge into the ocean; and "California Dream," which exudes the allure of a sunset.

The latest addition to this dazzling unisex fragrance collection, "On the Beach," evokes an exhilarating escape to the American West Coast. "On the Beach" embodies the joy of beachfront, the playfulness of wide-open spaces, endless coastlines, and the gentle lapping of waves.

This fragrance evokes the atmosphere of the American West Coast—a place of freedom, passion, wild creativity—while combining the lightness of cologne with the refined allure of parfum. In the exhilaration of a beautiful day, the landscape transforms with the sparkling splashes of water against a brilliant blue sky, and the rhythmic sounds of lapping waves soothe the summer dreaminess.

"On the Beach" casts a spell on a radiant day, evoking the lingering sensation of the soothing softness of sun-warmed sand as you await the waves.

Yuzu + Neroli + Aromatic Herbs
"On the Beach," the latest creation from Louis Vuitton's in-house Master Perfumer, unleashes an enchanting fragrance. It combines the cascading emotions of a summer day at the beach: the happiness of being enveloped in sun, the unique surge of emotion like waves, and the gentle warmth of sand against your skin. The coastline evokes a variety of sensations, from the power of inviting waves to the sensuality of sunlight filtering in. Jack describes this fragrance as follows: "The scent starts bright, then develops into a sense of comfort, illuminating the yuzu. Yuzu is a rare Japanese citrus fruit and has been a favorite of mine for about 30 years. The complex aroma is a blend of grapefruit, mandarin, and orange. The vibrant scent of yuzu forms the base, bursting with freshness. Then the gentle scent of neroli, an essence of sun-kissed orange blossom, emerges. The blend of aromatic notes, reminiscent of a sandy beach, adds a delicate yet invigorating accent. Thyme, rosemary, pink pepper, and clove are subtle yet essential to this fragrance, evoking a summery atmosphere. The veiled scent of cypress makes its presence felt, like the blessed shade of a tree on a cloudless, sunny day." Following on from their previous collaboration, Louis Vuitton continues their painterly collaboration with Los Angeles-based artist Alex Israel. "Sun Song," "Cactus Garden," "Afternoon Swim," and "California Dream" are now adorned with the colors of his iconic works. Painter, sculptor, author, and screenwriter, Alex Israel is a multimedia artist who embraces the modernity of the world around him and expresses his art in a multifaceted way. His primary inspiration comes from his hometown, Los Angeles, a city of beautiful contrasts and diverse architecture. A fantastical blend of old European and Hispanic influences, the result is a breathtaking panorama. Sunlight bathes and reflects off the vibrant oceanfront façade, changing its appearance over time. Louis Vuitton captures this shifting light with a rainbow of hues in his dreamlike series, "Untitled (Flat)." The "On the Beach" bottle and packaging feature the same hues found in one of his "Untitled (Flat)" works, shifting from fiery red to soft orange. To closely replicate Louis Vuitton's preferred illusion of color transitions, an unprecedented process was employed to create random color gradients on each bottle, creating a unique, dynamic effect. "On the Beach" encapsulates the ever-changing landscape of Los Angeles, the City of Angels. Imagine traveling with the scent of "On the Beach." Through a world of remarkable artistic collaborations, Louis Vuitton offers a kind of art de vivre (a rich lifestyle) that transcends fragrance. Also unveiling is a limited-edition surfboard designed by Alex Israel, an unmistakable work of art featuring all the iridescent colors characteristic of his paintings – nuances also expressed in "On the Beach." The travel case and bottle also incorporate this delicate summer color palette, continuing the light-filled adventure with the true elegance of Louis Vuitton's tradition as a master trunk maker.
