Sep 21, 2013

Fashion designer Jun Takahashi was born on September 21, 1969, in Gunma Prefecture. He is the designer of UNDERCOVER.
In 1989, he enrolled at Bunka Fashion College to study apparel design. While there, he co-founded UNDERCOVER with fellow designer Kobo Ichinose. After graduating in 1993, he opened the apparel shop NOWHERE in Harajuku with A BATHING APE designer NIGO, which became a huge hit among young people.
He first participated in the Tokyo Collection for the 1994-95 Autumn/Winter collection. That same year, he co-created the brand AFFA with Hiroshi Fujiwara. He also began participating in the Paris Collection as part of UNDERCOVER's Spring/Summer 2003 collection. After a hiatus from Paris shows following the 2011-12 Autumn/Winter 2012 collection, he returned for the 2013-14 Autumn/Winter 2014 collection.

Currently, he is developing Undercover's women's and men's lines, as well as the second lines "JohnUNDERCOVER" and "SueUNDERCOVER" which debuted in 2013-14 Autumn/Winter, and the collaboration line "GYAKUSOU" with Nike.

In the band he formed while attending Bunka Fashion College, he copied the Sex Pistols. He is also famous for being nicknamed "Jonio" because of his resemblance to lead singer Johnny Rotten. Last month, he collaborated with jewelry brand "CORE JEWELS" to release a nail-motif bracelet and a necklace with a padlock engraved with the letter "R" inspired by Sid & Nancy.
