Isetan Men's and InterFM collaborate on in-store music. Music selected by Peter Barakan and Yukihiro Takahashi

Sep 25, 2013

On the 11th, music radio station InterFM began overseeing the in-house music at Isetan Men's. Until October 22nd, Peter Barakan, the station's executive officer and DJ, will be selecting the music. Starting on the 23rd, the final week of the program will be led by Yukihiro Takahashi. This project was realized to commemorate the 10th anniversary of Isetan Men's. Based on the building's slogan, "Revolutionary tradition," Peter Barakan has divided the music into three themes for the basement and floors 1, 4, 5, 7, and 8, with an adult audience in mind. From September 25th to October 8th, the program will feature jazz-oriented music, including a Blue Note compilation curated by Peter Barakan. From October 9th to 22nd, the program will feature music highlighting live albums. On the second, third, and sixth floors, InterFM's music selection team will be in charge of selecting music aimed at younger generations. In addition to selecting the music, Barakan will also be narrating the jingle, which will be played throughout the building during the event. "My attitude toward music is exactly the same as the Isetan Men's slogan. Music that resonates with the heart is rooted in tradition, yet also has a sense of innovation. Listeners may find it nostalgic, or they may want to hear it again because it's new. I hope everyone at Isetan Men's will enjoy the music I love," says Barakan. Starting on October 23rd, the final week of the event, Yukihiro Takahashi will also be in charge of music selections as part of a special project. This will be available for a limited time until November 5th.
