Actress Naomi Watts was born on September 28, 1968, in Shoreham, England.
After moving to Australia with her family at the age of 14, she studied acting at a drama school. To make a living, she put her acting career on hold and worked as a model in Japan. After returning to Japan, she worked as a fashion magazine assistant at a department store, gradually resuming her acting career.
She made her film debut in 1986's "For Love Alone," but a long career followed. In 2001, she was cast in the lead role in David Lynch's "Mulholland Drive," winning numerous awards, including the National Society of Film Critics Award for Best Actress. She then starred in "The Ring," a remake of the Japanese film "Ring," which cemented her as a star in both name and reality. She was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress for her roles in 2003's "21 Grams" and 2012's "The Impossible," but did not win.
In her personal life, she married actor Liev Schreiber in 2007 and has two sons with him. She also remains close friends with Nicole Kidman, her classmate at Australian drama school.
She will play the lead role of former Princess Diana in the film "Diana," due for release on the 18th of next month. The film is attracting attention for featuring dresses actually worn by Diana, as well as the fact that fashion brands such as TOD'S, Chopard, Versace, and Dior provided costumes.
