Sep 9, 2013

Okada Orimono, a fabric manufacturer from Takanoguchi, Wakayama Prefecture, will be holding a limited-time sale of their original products on the first floor of the Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi Main Store from September 11th to 24th. This will be their second limited-time event at a department store in a year, following a previous event held at several Daimaru Matsuzakaya branches from October to December last year.

This time, Okada Orimono has independently designed 17 items in six styles, including chokers, hooded scarves, vests, and stoles, using faux fur, a material they specialize in, and combining it with other materials such as knitwear and woven fabrics. The knitwear-infused products are a collaboration with Improve, a Kobe-based planning and design company.

According to Okada Orimono's president, Tsuguhiro Okada, "There is a possibility that other limited-time sales at department stores will be decided this fall." Okada Orimono specializes in faux fur fabric manufacturing and supplies faux fur every season to Western luxury brands such as Chanel, Louis Vuitton, and Prada. The Takanoguchi region, to which Okada Orimono belongs, is a fabric manufacturing area that has been in existence since the Edo period, and has been producing pile fabric since the Taisho period. The company applies these techniques to produce fabrics such as fake fur, boa, velour, moquette, and chenille, which are widely supplied to the fashion, miscellaneous goods, interior, and industrial materials sectors.
