Weekend Max Mara's Spring/Summer 2021 signature capsule collection, "FLUTTERFLIES," will be available for purchase online from March 9th and in major stores from March 15th.
"FLUTTERFLIES" is a capsule collection created in collaboration with American illustrator and pop artist Donald Robertson.
With a career spanning over 30 years, Robertson's work has expanded beyond art to include fashion and media. His witty, vivid, and comical character designs have earned him enthusiastic support from leading brands in the industry. Robertson's insatiable curiosity, rich sensibility, and pursuit of fun have led him to pour all of his creativity into creating the new Weekend Max Mara Signature Collection.
With a vibrant color palette and vibrant prints, the collection is sure to inspire energy in the hotter months. "It's fun, easy, and comfortable, with a touch of irony," says Robertson.
The prints take center stage, reflecting Robertson's unique emblem, technique, and vision. Characterized by crisp, clean lines, the collection's colorful motifs evoke the butterfly, Robertson's signature technique and Weekend Max Mara's long-standing symbol. Robertson also reinterprets a fabric characteristic of his work: adhesive tape, creating colorful cotton strips that accentuate the waists and necklines of dresses, shirts, and pencil skirts. The resulting pieces, Robertson describes as "held together with adhesive tape." The vibrant, colorful patterns also appear on Weekend Max Mara's signature Pasticchino bag and sneakers. Photographed by Dewey Nix, the images feature American model Sofia Richie. Set in a tropical garden, the images blend a pop aesthetic with a dreamy feel.
