Since we can't travel far, why not treat yourself to "state guest-level" luxury in your room this spring?

This is the season when we look forward to trips and outings to famous cherry blossom viewing spots, but with the spread of COVID-19, many people are probably unsure about their plans for early spring. For those of you in this situation, Hotel New Otani is offering a special spring hospitality project, offering the "Mythical Course Menu" that was served to state guests from 190 countries at the historic banquet held on October 23, 2019 to celebrate the beginning of the Reiwa era.

Based on the celebratory menu served at the banquet, the "Reiwa Commemorative Sakura Course Dinner" will be arranged in the privacy of your own room, with a cherry blossom theme. 【Menu contents】
● 『Celebratory platter of Japanese and Western appetizers』

For the appetizers, we serve them on an Arita ware rock plate custom-made for the dinner party. This gorgeous assortment of eight dishes combines seasonal Japanese and Western ingredients, including celebratory ingredients like sake-boiled saimaki (simmered sushi rolls) and sea urchin, as well as grilled silver cod in Kyoto-style broth, seared pufferfish temari sushi with caviar, grilled conger eel Hachiman-yaki (grilled conger eel), and duck foie gras with Nara pickles, in honor of the auspicious number eight.

● "Extreme Dashi Golden Drops Clear Soup"

This carefully crafted dashi soup was created after four years of research and development. This "ultimate bowl" is one of the main attractions of the "Reiwa Commemorative Sakura Dinner," made with a blend of kelp, bonito flakes, and tuna flakes, and generously topped with clams. This is a masterpiece served to convey Japan's umami culture to the world.

● "Ozaki Beef Stew"

For the main dish, we have beef stew made from the rare Ozaki beef, which is often referred to as the "mythical Wagyu beef." The Ozaki beef is slowly simmered for five hours and combined with the hotel's traditional demi-glace sauce, which is made with mirin and Saikyo miso, to bring out the maximum flavor and sweetness unique to Ozaki beef.

● "Sakura Bara Chirashi Sushi"

Bara chirashi sushi made with vinegared rice seasoned with red vinegar and 12 different ingredients including tuna, shrimp, sea urchin and salmon roe. Salted pickled cherry blossoms add an accent. The heavy, lidded dish is also a custom-made Arita ware item.

● "Sakura Anmitsu"

Brown sugar bean paste is hidden under cherry blossom flavored agar, and is topped with slowly simmered black beans from Tanba and Hachijojima Jersey milk gelato. This is an elegant dessert where the flavor of cherry blossoms matches well with the taste of rich milk.
