
Actress Zoe Saldana was born on June 19, 1978, in New Jersey, USA. She spent her childhood in New York and moved to the Dominican Republic with her mother at age 10, where she studied ballet and other dance forms. Returning to New York at age 17, she developed an interest in acting, continuing her ballet studies while joining a theater company and performing on stage. She made her debut in 2000 in the film "Center Stage," set in a ballet company. She has since appeared in films such as "Drumline" (2002) and "The Terminal" (2004). She won the Saturn Award for Best Actress for her role as the heroine Neytiri, a member of the Na'vi tribe, in James Cameron's hit film "Avatar," released in 2009. She quickly became a household name. She is also set to appear in the three "Avatar" sequels, scheduled for release in 2016 and beyond.
In her personal life, she got engaged to actor Keith Britton in 2010 after dating him for 10 years, but they broke up the following year. In June 2013, she married artist Marco Perego.
