Saeko becomes a local girl at Isetan! Talk show with Hawaiian expert Maki

Jun 8, 2014

On June 8th, model and TV personality Saeko held a talk show with Hawaii-based fashion coordinator Maki Konikson (hereafter "Maki") at the Isetan Shinjuku store. The store hosted a fair titled "Real Hawaii by Maki Konikson—Discover the Unknown Charms of Hawaii," inviting Maki from Hawaii to introduce the latest resort goods, cosmetics, and art beloved by local women. Approximately 300 people, including fans of Maki and Saeko, attended the talk show. During the talk show, Saeko said, "Maki and I often introduce each other to the latest beauty and fashion shops in Hawaii, and we're also close in our free time." Maki also commented, "Saeko and I are easy to talk to. (Pointing to her hairstyle) We even look alike," which drew a cheer from the audience. Regarding the appeal of Hawaii, Saeko said, "Hawaii is a place that's friendly to children and the elderly, so it's a great place for families to enjoy. I always go to Dr. Body. I love their cosmetics. I hope everyone finds their favorites too. Cosmetics can really transform a girl. I'm so glad I was born a girl." She continued, "As a souvenir from Hawaii, I highly recommend Crush. Fashion models use their products, and their creams are great too." Maki added, "The shop I'm introducing this time is run by bead embroidery master Keiji Tagawa. I love that it's located next to a cafe in Hawaii. I learned about it from Nori (Noritake Kinashi) of the duo Tunnels."

At the end of the talk show, there was a Q&A session, where Maki responded to the question, "Which shop do you think will be the next big thing in Hawaii?" by saying, "I think it's TO THE SEA. They have a wide selection of accessories that will give you a taste of Hawaii, and it's easy to get to as it's in front of the duty-free shop, so I recommend that everyone stop by." When asked, "Where can I meet Maki?" Saeko replied with a smile, "Maki works as a local coordinator in Hawaii, so you might be able to meet her if you head to the airport driveway."

For this event, Saeko has collaborated with Hawaiian jewelry brand MONI to introduce rings and bracelets (priced from 3,800 yen to 17,600 yen). They can be purchased at the venue. The event runs until the 10th.
