Givenchy to host exclusive pop-up at Dover Street Market Ginza

Event Date:2021.02.26-03.31
Mar 2, 2021

Givenchy has opened an exclusive concept pop-up store at Dover Street Market Ginza.

The new space, conceived by Creative Director Matthew M. Williams in collaboration with British artist Ewan Macfarlane, prominently features the symbols, signs and codes that Williams created for Givenchy.

The displays feature Williams' signature hardware and 4G emblem, which form the basis for the overall image of the space. Shiny chrome fixtures, textured backdrops and lighting accentuate the clothing and accessories from the Spring/Summer 2021 collection, available exclusively at the pop-up.

Complementing Williams' exploration of the contrast between tradition and edgy, and the symbiosis of practicality and luxury, are sculptures by McFarlane. The sculptures, featuring people crouching, climbing, reaching and leaning, speak to the natural desire for self-expression and the value of choosing objects and experiences for ourselves.

By displaying clothing, bags, shoes, and jewelry on mirror-finished metallic tension poles and sculptures made of only arms and legs, the space is naturally open to the eye, creating a dialogue between the collection itself, the space, and the viewer.

Products curated exclusively for Dover Street Market Ginza will be on display, including carefully selected women's and men's pieces from Matthew M. Williams' Spring/Summer 2021 collection, his debut season at Givenchy. The collection includes sharp tailored jackets, relaxed tapered and layered pants, fitted tops, jeweled T-shirts and hoodies, and asymmetrical draped dresses, as well as statement accessories that are key to the season, such as horn caps, G-Link jewelry, Antigona mini bags, cutout bags, Chelsea boots, studded kitten heels, GIV1 sneakers, and casual-chic marshmallow wedges or slide sandals.

The Givenchy pop-up store will be open from February 26th to March 31st, 2021.
