The Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse Event Square will host the "Christmas Market in Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse" for 28 days, from November 28th to December 25th.
Christmas markets began in Frankfurt, Germany in 1393 as a market where people could enjoy shopping for Christmas preparations during the Advent period, a time of year when people wait for the arrival of Christmas. The "Christmas Market in Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse" was held in 2010 as a Christmas market that evokes an authentic atmosphere, thanks to the German architectural style of the Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse, where the market is held, and Yokohama City, a partner city of Frankfurt.
At the venue, 19 "Hütte" (wooden stalls) will be set up along a street lined with fir trees decorated with LED lights. They will sell food and drink staples of German Christmas, such as "Stollen," "Glühwein (mulled wine)," and "German sausages," as well as miscellaneous goods, including traditional crafts from the Erzgebirge region of Germany, such as "Erzgebirge dolls."
Also, for the first time this year, teddy bears from Steiff, Germany's leading long-established stuffed animal brand, will be making an appearance. You'll be able to take photos with the teddy bears in front of the Christmas tree, and inside the Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse, teddy bear plush toys and traditional German dioramas called "Klippe" will be on display.
Other events include "Oshare HANABI 2015," a fireworks display set to background music, an event where you can receive presents from Santa Claus, who will be making an appearance on certain days, and "Santa and Reindeer Trick Art," where you can have a magical experience with optical illusions. There will also be workshops to make goods perfect for Christmas.
