From November 13th to February 14th, 2016, MIKIMOTO will be showcasing "Precious Moments," a display combining paper crafts and projection mapping, in the show window of its MIKIMOTO Ginza 2-Chome flagship store.
The MIKIMOTO flagship store is currently undergoing reconstruction in preparation for its grand opening in spring 2017, and is currently operating as MIKIMOTO Ginza 2. The store's display was created by artist duo Davy & Kristin McGuire. Based in Bristol, UK, Davy & Kristin McGuire are top artists in the projection mapping industry and are known for their global hit "The Ice Book," the world's first projection mapping using pop-up art, which they unveiled in 2009. In 2013, they received the Oxford Samuel Beckett Theatre Trust Award.
"Precious Moments," which will be unveiled this time, is an original work created by Davy and Christine Maguire for MIKIMOTO. This is the duo's first exhibition of an original work in Japan, and it tells the romantic story of two couples using projection mapping on a stage made of elaborately crafted paper crafts.
