
On February 13, 2015, the first ever Moomin film, "Moomin: The Movie," will be released. It was produced in Tove Jansson's native Finland to commemorate the 100th anniversary of her birth. Special advance tickets (2,800 yen) with special bonuses are now on sale at theaters nationwide (TOHO Cinemas, AEON Cinemas, etc.). The Moomin stories were first published in 1945, and have since been adapted into comics, picture books, and animations, making them beloved by people all over the world. 2014 marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of Tove Jansson, the creator of Moomin, and as such, "MOOMIN!" will feature an exhibition of original works being shown in Japan for the first time. The "Moomin Exhibition" will tour 11 cities across the country, and the "Tove Jansson Exhibition" will open at the Sogo Museum of Art in Yokohama from October 23rd.
The film "Moomin: The Movie," which will be released next year, is also attracting attention as one of the special projects commemorating the anniversary. The "regular version" of the advance movie ticket comes with a clear file as a bonus. It depicts a scene where Moomin's girlfriend, Florence, is being hit on by a playboy while on vacation.
In contrast, the "special version" comes with the same clear file as well as an original tote bag from the movie featuring a print of Moomin's mom and dad.
Both are rare items that can only be obtained by advance ticket buyers, so they are sure to be irresistible bonuses for fans.
The intriguing story revolves around the Moomin family escaping Moominvalley to enjoy a vacation in the southern seas, and the joys and sorrows they experience there. Moomin and Moominmamma are angry at Florence and Moominpappa, who are fascinated by the elegant lifestyle of the aristocrats they meet on vacation.
