Iwataya, a department store in Fukuoka, celebrates its 260th anniversary this year. To commemorate this milestone, the store launched a campaign featuring photographer Leslie Kee on October 1st.
The campaign, themed "Fukuoka Families," features families of various ages, from seniors to grandchildren, expressing the "bond between Iwataya and the people of Fukuoka" that spans generations and strongly highlights the store's love and pride for its hometown. The advertising slogan is "A Good Day." Leslie Kee photographed portraits of five families living in Fukuoka, and posters and a special website have been released.
The families featured in the images all live in Fukuoka, and by adding their family histories and backgrounds, the images are more compelling, demonstrating a commitment to local expression. By showcasing unprecedented portraits of "new families," the campaign highlights a new image of family life and fashion, embodying the store's "enterprising spirit" that is its identity. Leslie Kee is a photographer born in Singapore in 1971. Based in Tokyo, he is active at the forefront of fashion, art, and advertising photography. In addition to shooting for fashion magazines around the world and photographing CD jackets, he has also taken numerous portraits of celebrities both in Japan and abroad. He has previously received the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Award at the 2012 APA (Japan Advertising Photographers Association) Awards and the Beautiful Japan Award at the 2014 APA Awards.
