"FUKUOKA ART WALK: Art Month 2014," an event held annually in October under the concept of "invigorating people and revitalizing the city through the power of art," brings together galleries and art museums throughout Fukuoka Prefecture and is running until October 31st. This annual event, held every October, distributes an art map showcasing approximately 70 locations where you can fully enjoy the arts of autumn, including the Kyushu National Museum, Fukuoka Prefectural Museum of Art, and Fukuoka Art Museum. The map also serves as a stamp rally mount, and participants who visit 10 locations receive a gift on a first-come, first-served basis. In addition to "Pretty Green" novelties, prizes include T-shirts, tenugui (hand towels), art gift boxes, key chains, tote bags, and museum tickets, all of which are original works by various artists. This year, to commemorate the event's 10th anniversary, the event focuses on artists active in Fukuoka. Fukuoka-born artist Takashi Shibata graces the cover of the art map. He creates line drawings and live paintings using charcoal, and his works will be exhibited at the Pretty Green Fukuoka store from the 18th to the 31st. As an opening event on the 18th, a live drawing will be held from 11am, and a talk show will be held from 4:30pm.
