OPENING CEREMONY has announced its Spring/Summer 2021 collection.
The select shop "OPENING CEREMONY," which closed all of its domestic stores and its online store in 2020, will be reopening for the Spring/Summer 2021 season. From now on, it will no longer operate as a select shop, but will instead operate as a standalone brand called "OPENING CEREMONY."
Creative directors Carol Lim and Humberto Leon grew up in the Valley district of Los Angeles.
This season, they paid homage to their youth by channeling nostalgia into fabrics and silhouettes. Rose motifs feature prominently in the collection, whether embroidered, all-over prints, or embellished shoes, a nod to the Tournament of Roses, a parade they frequented as children.
The collection also features a special collaboration with Chicago-based digital artist and designer, Terrell Davis. The retro-futuristic artwork depicts a typical microcosm of California teenagers, projecting images of their phones, record players, magazines, lava lamps, and even driving around town while thinking about the future.
