SLGH005Seiko Watch Corporation will release a regular model equipped with the next-generation mechanical movement, Caliber 9SA5, from March 6th as part of the new "Series 9" design series of <Grand Seiko>, which inherits the essence of Seiko style and is a legitimate evolution. The suggested retail price is 1,045,000 yen (tax included) (950,000 yen excluding tax).

New Design Series "Series 9"
The exterior of this model inherits the design grammar established with the 44GS in 1967, while being based on a form that lets light flow beautifully. It also incorporates the Japanese sensibility that finds beauty "between light and shadow," and is guided by a new design grammar that aims to further evolve essential legibility and wearability.
The case, finished with a distortion-free mirror surface and delicate grain by Zaratsu polishing, not only emits beautiful light and deep shadows, but also depicts the soft gradations of light that shift between them. The dial features deeply grooved indexes for a bold presence, combined with three-dimensional hour and minute hands that enhance legibility through a strong contrast. The bracelet offers a secure fit, while the case, designed to fit comfortably on the wrist with a low center of gravity, also enhances wearability.
This design series, a legitimate evolution of Grand Seiko's design grammar, will continue to be developed under the name "Series 9."
Next-Generation Grand Seiko Caliber 9SA5
This model is equipped with the Caliber 9SA5, a mechanical high-beat movement exclusive to Grand Seiko, launched in 2020. This next-generation movement employs a dual impulse escapement (a highly efficient escapement) and twin barrels (two mainsprings) to achieve a high-beat rate of 36,000 vibrations per hour, while still maintaining a power reserve of approximately 80 hours when fully wound. Its unique horizontal gear train structure also contributes to its slim design.
Caliber 9SA5 is created by experienced artisans at Grand Seiko Studio Shizukuishi, a workshop surrounded by abundant nature and overlooking the majestic Mount Iwate.

This model depicts this magnificent birch forest with a dynamic embossed pattern and delicate coloring on the dial.
The movement, visible through the case back, is also finished in a style inspired by the natural beauty of Shizukuishi. The "Shizukuishi River Finish" with its delicate striped pattern evokes the majestic flow of the Shizukuishi River, which changes with the seasons.
