A report on Yuushin Creation's "ASOKO" - a shop space filled with fashionable and affordable goods

Mar 2, 2013

Yushin Creation (headquartered in Nishi-ku, Osaka), which operates brands such as "Eaves" and "Three Hundred Thirty Days," opened the first store of its "ASOKO" general merchandise store format on March 2nd on Orange Street in Minami-Horie, Osaka.
The first store has a sales floor area of 400 square meters (approximately 120 tsubo) and offers a wide range of products, from everyday items such as stationery, smartphone covers, aroma candles, and clocks to tableware, tools, bicycles, camping equipment, sleeping bags, and board games. Prices are reasonable, ranging from a few tens of yen to the mid-20,000 yen range.
The company has announced a plan to open 100 stores of this new format over three years, and will begin full-scale openings this summer. The standard sales floor area is expected to be 100 tsubo.

The highlight of this store is that, rather than the crammed-in displays common in 100-yen shops and low-priced general stores, it adopts a gallery-like display method, where each item is displayed in a spacious area. Furthermore, even though each item is a tool, it has been selected to be highly designed, achieving both reasonable prices and fashion.

The building that houses the first store has a three-story structure from the first to third floors above ground, with the first floor being the sales floor and the second and third floors being rental galleries that can be rented out for exhibitions and other events. To coincide with the opening of the first store, the art exhibition "ASOKO NO MONO Exhibition", supervised by Shimada Tamotsu, who was contracted as the store's art director, is being held on the second floor until the 10th.
