Support Surface unveiled its 2013-14 Autumn/Winter collection on March 21st at the Nihonbashi Mitsui Hall. Designer Kenkabe Nobuo designed the collection. The theme was "Shaping Sparkle." Shoes covered entirely in glitter served as a symbolic piece embodying the theme. While the collection was colorful throughout, the subtle hues of the mixed colors created a subdued, sophisticated impression. While the collection featured elaborate details, such as the draping and tucks of the satin garments, the color-changing collars, and the rounded hems of the double-breasted jackets, the collection's simple yet stylish design highlighted the texture of the fabrics through flat, linear patterns. "Rather than being inspired by silhouettes or colors, I wanted to design something that shimmers and sparkles. I started with the idea that the person, rather than the clothes, should sparkle," Kenkabe said. "We are particular about using materials made in Japan. We double-face both our cotton and wool every season, and the blending of the two colours creates a depth of colour. I would like you to take a look at the seam-free sewing technique used on this bonded two-colour coat," he said, demonstrating his commitment to quality.
