Spanish leather brand LOEWE will hold an "Origami"-themed "LOEWE Exhibition" at the Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi Main Store from February 20th.
To commemorate the 400th anniversary of the Keicho Embassy to Europe, a step in economic exchange between Japan and Spain in 2013, creative director Stuart Vevers has expressed the traditional Japanese paper craft of "origami" in Napa, a region synonymous with LOEWE. A limited edition "Origami Collection" (157,500 yen/four colors), a bag that folds like origami, has been created. It will be available for pre-sale at the "LOEWE Exhibition."
2013 marks the 40th anniversary of the opening of LOEWE's first boutique at the Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi Main Store, which is also the reason for the decision to hold the "LOEWE Exhibition." The exhibition's spatial decoration and installation will be handled by artist Akira Fujimoto, who has recently been presenting works using a variety of methods on the theme of "symbolization." Fujimoto was chosen to carry on the spirit of Loewe in its home country, which is deeply involved with the arts, including the establishment of the Loewe Foundation, which aims to preserve tradition and promote creativity, and to pursue his own unique style as a Japanese artist.
