[WRITER Blog] Cosmetics Recommendations Vol. 3 Lipstick Recommendations - Welcome to My Lip City!

Mar 25, 2013

Every human being has one pair of lips. Or rather, two. It's a very obvious thing, but we only have one pair of lips.

And yet, I can't stop buying lipstick, as if I had ten pairs. And not just lipstick, I want lip balm, lip gloss, and lip balm too. I end up buying more than I can use before they go bad...

One reason is that they're cheaper than eyeshadow or foundation. I could just as easily buy eyeliner in the same price range, but my hand always reaches for lipstick.

"When women go to touch up their makeup, they tend to touch up their eye makeup, but forget about it. Men look at your lips. Keep them plump and shiny at all times to catch their attention!"
I once read this in a women's magazine, but I don't care. I keep moisturizing and glossing my lips just for myself.

Now, when I line up my lipsticks and their companions, it looks like a small metropolis (a contradiction...). Among all those buildings, I'd like to introduce three that stand out.
My go-to is Clinique's Moisturizing Lipstick, also known as "First Love." The name itself is striking, but when you apply it, it's elegant yet lustrous, giving your lips an innocent, sweet look, like a young girl in love for the first time. It's a natural color that seems to say, "Is this your natural color?", yet it beautifies your lips. True to its name, it's buttery smooth, and you can even apply it directly when you're short on time. I've lost count of how many bottles I've repurchased. In fact, I'm starting to mistake the color of my lips when I apply it for my natural lip color.

An emerging favorite is Yves Saint Laurent Beauté's Rouge Volupté Shine. I also love the color nicknamed "First Kiss Nude Coral," and like First Love, it exudes a girly vibe. It applies so smoothly it could be described as sensual, yet is light and non-sticky. The subtle mango scent is also a delight. The finish is smooth and glossy, so there's no need to layer on gloss. For someone like me who often gets asked, "Are you feeling unwell?" if I forget my lipstick, and "Are you going to Shichi-Go-San?" if it's too dark, this is a valuable item that adds a touch of femininity and a sense of refinement with just a touch.

The KORESS Lip Butter Stick is also a powerful product. It has SPF 15, a plus, except for the colorless version. Since it's affordable, I chose the bold rose shade, which is "red!" Despite being positioned as a shea butter-rich "tinted lip," the color pays off almost exactly as it appears. The packaging is also classic and beautiful.

The weather is finally beautiful, so why not bring in spring with your lips? There is sure to be a product waiting for you in the flower garden known as the cosmetics floor.
