Fashion magazine "Union" opens pop-up store at Isetan, featuring limited edition "red" items

Mar 28, 2013

The third issue of "Union," an independent bilingual fashion magazine from Tokyo edited by stylists Dodo Chiharu and Hiroyuki Kubo, was released on March 23rd.

To commemorate the release, the "Union Pop-Up Store" opened at Isetan Shinjuku on March 27th. The venue features the 2013 Spring/Summer collection selected by stylist Dodo from Re-Style, including "Lulu Rogetta," "Petit Robe Noir," "Pretty Ballerina," and "Pippi."

The pop-up store also features a special project focusing on the "red" color of the logo color of "Union" issue 3. A red dress (44,100 yen) from "Dress by Flicka" and a scarf (16,800 yen) from "Petit Robe Noir" are both available exclusively at Isetan Shinjuku. Also on offer are beauty items like red lip collections from brands like Anna Sui and Yves Saint Laurent, selected by makeup artist Nagisa, and eyelashes from Shu Uemura. Additionally, flower artist Michiko has created a "Union Garden"-themed space, arranging fresh flowers with red accents to recreate a girly world. The venue will also feature a photo exhibition curated by Hiroyuki Kubo, the magazine's other editor-in-chief, featuring works by photographers from Japan and abroad who participate in UNION magazine. Works by OLA RINDAL, Aoshi Shirakawa, CLARE SHILLAND, SANDRA FREIJ, Yoshiyuki Okuyama, LUKASZ WIERZBOWSKI, and LI HUI will be on display and for sale, with some works already selling out on the first day. "Unlike other magazines, we at UNION place great importance on photography. The pop-up store will center around a photo exhibition, and we hope to promote "culture" rather than simply selling products." "I want people to feel a calm, romantic atmosphere at the venue, like they're watching a movie," says Kubo.

In addition, a personal styling event by Momo Chiharu will be held on March 30th and 31st. On the 30th, there will also be a special party in collaboration between Union and Re-Style. Along with the two editors-in-chief, the party will also be attended by designers of brands sold by Re-Style.
