The World of Dior Comes to Harrods in London

Mar 19, 2013

Founding designer Dior held its first show at Harrods in London in 1953. Sixty years later, the new Dior, with Raf Simons as its new director, is working with Harrods on a project to communicate the brand's past and present.

In Japan, in February of this year, the first-floor show window at the Isetan Shinjuku store was completely taken over. The fourth-floor boutique was renovated, and a pop-up store recreating the Paris show space's "white box" was set up in the event space. A makeup event was also held simultaneously on the first floor, and this season's new Dior events are likely to attract attention around the world.

This time at Harrods in London, the "world of Dior" is being unfolded everywhere, from the cafe, gallery, pop-up store, and window displays. The exhibition features vintage photographs and sketches, as well as miniature couture dresses recreated to perfection down to the smallest detail, and gowns worn by actresses Jennifer Lawrence, Emma Watson, and Marion Cotillard.

A limited edition Lady Dior bag (tartan/crocodile), beloved by Princess Diana, is also on sale. The exhibition will run in London until April 14th, and will then be rolled out around the world.
