"Wokan Airai - Uno Akira Exhibition @ISETAN" will be held at Art & Frame on the 5th floor of the Isetan Shinjuku Main Building from March 2nd to 15th, showcasing new artwork by Uno Akira, a leading illustrator active since the 1960s.
The exhibition will feature new artwork by Uno, themed on "wokan," an aesthetic ideal in Heian-period Japanese literature. Featured will be a work depicting "The Insect-Lover Princess," a story from the Heian-period short story collection "Tsutsumi Chūnagon Monogatari" that is said to be the inspiration for "Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind." Approximately 20 new prints, merchandise, and books will also be available for purchase.
In addition, Uno will be holding a signing session from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM on March 5th and 13th. Numbered tickets will be distributed to the first 100 people who purchase artwork or merchandise worth 5,400 yen or more.
