Maison MIHARA YASUHIRO will open its flagship store in Omotesando Hills on March 18th. Marking the 20th anniversary of his self-taught shoemaking career, MIHARA YASUHIRO relaunched as a new brand, MAISON MIHARA YASUHIRO, on January 1st of this year. While retaining the traditional MIHARA style of basics, the brand will refine its collections and offer a more free-flowing approach to expression. Last month, the brand presented its first show at Paris Fashion Week. The newly opened flagship store will carry the entire range of MIHARA YASUHIRO and MIHARA YASUHIRO products, including Modified#, which disassembles and reconstructs rare vintage pieces, and BUSINESS, which incorporates MIHARA's iconic designs. The store will also feature an atelier where shoes are crafted, custom-made, and repaired. Inspired by the factories Mihara himself visited in Italy and Germany, the interior design is a space that exudes a sense of incongruity yet somehow harmonious. The unique design creates a sense of a building within itself, separated by glass on the other side. The cashier area is inspired by the small shops in London's Burlington Arcade. Limited-edition items will also be available to celebrate the opening. For men, a reproduction of the "Cracking Backpack" released in Spring/Summer 2010 (¥94,000) and the "harf lowcut sneaker" (¥27,000), also featured in the Spring/Summer 2016 collection, will be available in an Omotesando Hills-exclusive colorway. For women, the Omotesando Hills-exclusive colorway of the Sukajan jacket (¥82,000), which was the item that generated the most advance inquiries of all the Spring/Summer 2016 items, will be available on the opening day.
