Omotesando Hills is undergoing a renovation to mark its 10th anniversary. On March 18, 2016, 23 stores will open simultaneously, the largest number ever.
Omotesando Hills will celebrate its 10th anniversary on February 11, 2016. Starting in February, the renovation to mark the occasion will see the sequential opening of 41 stores, including 33 new stores and 8 relocated or renovated stores. Luxury brands such as Valentino, Maison MIHARA YASUHIRO, and BOUCHERON will be opening in the area. Knitwear brand Bark will be opening its first store in Asia, and FACETASM will be opening its first store in a commercial facility.
Other openings include the lifestyle brand BRIEFING POPUP STORE and the high-end beauty brand The Organic Pharmacy, opening their first store in Japan. Jewelry brand Quarant'otto will also be opening its first Kanto location.
Food options include Bar Avant Partage, a new concept from Le Comptoir, a revolutionary French bar, opening its first Kanto location; Thirty Seven Roast Beef, a new concept from Roppongi's popular steakhouse; and Spatzle CAFE&BAR, a pasta restaurant serving authentic German cuisine. Parisian patisserie and chocolaterie Hugo & Victor is also planning to open its first flagship store in Japan, complete with a cafe space.
In addition to the opening of new shops, this renovation also includes a complete redesign of the exterior lighting on the approximately 250-meter façade. The lighting design was created by lighting designer Satoshi Uchihara. It features softly luminous glass surfaces and vertical lines of LEDs, highlighting the LEDs with a subtle combination of warm and cool lighting on the glass surfaces. Additionally, new multilingual touch panels and digital posters have been installed in the entrance hall, and original furniture produced by Tsuyoshi Matsuzawa of furniture label E&Y will be displayed in front of Space O, an event space on the third basement floor of the main building.
