Nagoya Isetan House women's fashion, condensed with the DNA of Shinjuku Isetan [ISETAN HAUS--2/2]

Mar 7, 2016

ISETAN HAUS marks the first Isetan brand store in the Tokai region. The women's clothing selection, centered on trending brands from the Shinjuku flagship store, was based on the company's customer data, which revealed that "high-fashion Nagoya residents frequently shop at the Shinjuku store." The first-floor fashion zone features a street-level Moncler store, the third largest in Japan after Ginza and Aoyama, at the entrance, proposing a section of the facade of the Dai Nagoya Building. A gorilla-themed VP greeted the customers at the opening. The event zone facing the Moncler store and the women's goods zone, featuring bags, shoes, scarves, and hats, feature unified pillars decorated with motifs by the store's art director, Kohei Nawa. The opening event zone featured the "5AC" bag, the first bag designed by John Galliano for Maison Margiela. Among international designers, Alexander Wang opened his first combined men's and women's store outside of Tokyo. The iconic black cage fixtures, a feature of his New York store, were introduced to the store for the first time in Japan. Similarly, Marni displayed its men's and women's collections across the aisle, including the popular Velcro sneakers. Also, Milan's Emilio Pucci, Paris's Carven, and New York's 3.1 Phillip Lim lined the walls, representing their respective city collections. Isetan's "Re-Style" independent edit zone is divided into three themes: on, off, and personal. Based on the Re-Style at the Shinjuku flagship store, "Re-Style Plus" and Ginza Mitsukoshi's "Force of Ginza" independent edit zone offer a selection of trending brands and items for the season. In the personal space, works from the Kamide Choemon Kiln of Kutani ware will be on display, and a spacious salon space will also be set up.

Opening exclusive items include one-of-a-kind pieces by Japanese designers such as Akane Utsunomiya, Akira Naka, and Leur Logette, as well as a Linton tweed jacket embellished with pearls from Re-Style's PB LUGHA, which will be sold exclusively in Tokyo and Nagoya. In addition, to commemorate Re-Style's 20th anniversary, a black dress in collaboration with a participating brand will also be included in the lineup. Other designers who will be on display at the time of opening include Rochas, Giles, Olympia Le-Tan, Acne Studios, mame, RHIE, TOGA, HYKE, Charles Anastase, MSGM, Erdem, Julien David, Maison Kitsuné, and Christopher Kane. The second floor, in line with the floor's overall theme of "satisfaction of mind and body," will feature "Ready for the Weekend (RFW)," further emphasizing its lifestyle appeal from the Shinjuku store. The counter-only juice bar "Sky High" will now have an eat-in area with table seating, offering bowl dishes and salads. An adjacent Sunfood superfood section has been set up, and the women's clothing floor has a juice bar and food stalls, with RFW children's clothing also being introduced, offering new appeal to families.

The brands offered are a mix of domestic brands such as Beautiful People, REKISAMI, MUVEIL, Muller by Yoshiokubo, TARO HORIUCH, BLUEBIRD BOULEVARD, Coohem, and KAON, as well as imported brands such as Frank&Eileen, James Perse, and adidas by Stella McCartney.

Similar to Re-Style on the first floor, a utility space with sofas has been set up next to the window in the back corner of RFW. Adjacent to it is "Isetan Tartan", a store offering a wide variety of miscellaneous goods in Macmillan/Isetan and Blackwatch/Isetan check patterns, which will be the first of its kind in the country to have a permanent corner. By arranging miscellaneous goods, consideration has been given to creating an environment where men can stay comfortably while women shop on the floor, and the entire floor is being used to try new things to address various issues that have been considered to be challenges for department stores.
