PROMOTION
Mar 20, 2016
This time, we'll be introducing the charms of Ginza to Rebecca U, a graphic designer, DJ, and model. Originally from Melbourne, Australia, she moved to Japan four years ago and is currently based in Tokyo, where she leads a busy life.

Ginza is one of Rebecca's frequent destinations. This time, she introduced us to her recommended Okinawa antenna shop, the Ginza Washita Shop, the Ginza Mitsukoshi department store basement (food floor), and the Ginza Mitsukoshi Overseas Customer Service, which specializes in services for foreigners.

SPOT 1. Ginza Washita Shop

Located on Sotobori-dori Street, where antenna shops from all over Japan line the street, the Ginza Washita Shop is a favorite haunt of Rebecca, offering a wide selection of Okinawa-related goods, from food to crafts and everyday items. "The moment I open the door, I feel like I've been transported to Okinawa," she says, enjoying the authentic Okinawan atmosphere. Rebecca loves spicy food and seems to be particularly fond of chili pepper-related products. In one corner of the store, there is a space where you can enjoy Okinawa's famous sata andagi and BLUE SEAL ice cream, as well as soki soba and Orion beer. Fresh vegetables delivered directly from Okinawa every day and the original purple sweet potato tart are also very popular items.

SPOT2. Ginza Mitsukoshi B2 & B3 Food Floor

01

The basement floor of Mitsukoshi department store is bustling with customers even on weekdays. For Rebecca, who loves both food and drink, this is a paradise! It's the epitome of gourmet food, with a wide variety of food from around the world, as well as alcohol and cheeses to pair with them. We were shown around the B2 floor, where prepared foods and bento boxes are the main focus. "The colorful and energetic interior is entertaining just to look around," she said excitedly. Furthermore, the third basement floor is a floor mainly devoted to alcohol, and rare alcoholic drinks are also available, offering a slightly different drinking experience. Rebecca particularly likes wine and sake, and it seems like it will be fun to search for her favorite bottle from the extensive lineup.

SPOT3. Overseas Customer Service Center

01

With the increasing number of international tourists, Ginza is a place where you can hear foreign languages everywhere you walk. To keep up with this change, Mitsukoshi has opened a service center focused on international customers. The center offers a wide range of convenient services, including tax-free procedures, product delivery, SIM card sales, and foreign currency exchange. It also offers delivery of purchased items to homes, hotels, and airports, as well as shopping advice, making it a reassuring place for tourists. Staff specializing in English and Chinese are on hand to provide hospitable service. Many tourists visit Ginza first upon arriving in Tokyo, and Mitsukoshi seems to be the perfect starting point for their trip.
