Onitsuka Tiger, a Japanese fashion brand, offers a contemporary collection that blends fashion and sports, heritage and innovation.
Onitsuka Tiger will open its first flagship store in Italy on December 18, 2020.
The concept of this special store, both the exterior and interior, was directed by Andrea Pompilio, the brand's longtime creative director. The Milan store, known as the Brand Theater, has three main spaces formed around Onitsuka Tiger's iconic concept. The first is the "Lab," the second is the "Japanese black lacquered tiered box," and the third is the "Gallery."
The largest space in the store was inspired by a "laboratory." With its clean, quiet, gray-toned interior, this space evokes the image of a room where daily research and consideration is conducted to create innovative items. The next space expresses Andrea Pompilio's reinterpretation of "Japaneseness." The landscape, filled with a heavy, lustrous appearance reminiscent of the traditional Japanese craft of black lacquer boxes, offers visitors a luxurious sense of exhilaration. Finally, the space, known as the "Gallery," is based on Onitsuka Tiger's signature color, Taichi Yellow. Mixing Japanese influences with antique architecture that retains a distinctive Italian flair, the building presents a veritable art gallery, offering a wide selection of items, from popular apparel to classic shoes.
Andrea Pompilio said, "This flagship store is completely different from conventional stores that are created simply to sell products. The entire store must be a place that can offer a new experience. I have been looking forward to the opening of this beautiful flagship store. It feels like opening a box of a new toy that you've always wanted."
To commemorate the opening, the Milan flagship store will be selling a capsule collection designed by New York artist Brian Kenny, as well as limited edition T-shirts and shorts. Guests can also enjoy a rich and extensive product lineup, from the latest contemporary designs to NIPPON MADE models that are brimming with Japanese craftsmanship.
