The second series of figures commemorating the 20th anniversary of the solo career of the highly popular musician hide was released on February 22nd. The "Kiban" (1,260 yen) guitar collection, featuring an electronic circuit board motif, was released.
The 1/8-scale Kiban was developed based on data used in hide's own guitar. It is an ultra-realistic, official replica that faithfully reproduces the original, down to the fine details and D tuners. The accompanying instruction manual features hide's own Kiban, including the history of the hide model and the background to the Kiban's creation. The first series, a shocking pink guitar, was released in January.
Hide began his band career in 1980 with the amateur band "Sabre Tiger," which he formed himself. In 1987, he joined "X JAPAN," where he played lead guitar and wrote and composed some of the band's songs under the name "HIDE." He made his solo debut in 1993 with the simultaneous release of two singles, "EYES LOVE YOU" and "50%&50%." In January 1998, the day after X JAPAN disbanded, he placed newspaper ads under the name "hide with Spread Beaver" and released the single "ROCKET DIVE." He passed away in May of the same year at his apartment. The "hide memorial summit" held at Ajinomoto Stadium in 2008, marking the 10th anniversary of his death, attracted 90,000 people, and the 13th anniversary memorial service in 2010 saw 35,000 people from all over the world lay flowers. He continues to have many fans today.
