Nov 4, 2014

Lifestyle magazine "pen" will feature whiskey in its November 15th issue.

Whiskey is gaining attention due to the popularity of highballs, but the latest issue, themed "Whiskey is to Love," introduces the world's five greatest whiskeys, from Scotch to Japanese, along with representative brands. We trace the journey of how whiskey is made at Yamazaki Distillery, which is said to be the birthplace of Japanese whiskey.

We will also learn the secrets of whiskey-making from world-renowned Japanese blender Seiichi Koshimizu, and learn about the work of coopers who determine the color and flavor of whiskey. We will visit the distilleries of Jim Beam, the "King of Bourbon," and Maker's Mark, the world's most popular brand. The magazine's powerful whiskey catalog features favorite and upcoming whiskeys, ranging from The McCallan, Laphroaig, and Bowmore to familiar names like Hibiki, Yamazaki, Wild Turkey, Four Roses, and Knob Creek, as well as Irish whiskeys like Jameson and Canadian whiskeys like Canadian Club. The magazine also concludes with a selection of bars with discerning whiskey connoisseurs. The second feature is "Do You Know Kaiko Takeshi?" In memory of the author, who passed away 25 years ago, the magazine traces his footsteps, including the creation of his masterpiece, "Summer Darkness."
