Ermenegildo Zegna has released "A Rose Reborn," a film co-produced with film director Park Chan-wook. "A Rose Reborn" is a concept expressed by Ermenegildo Zegna's head designer, Stefano Pilati, for the brand's AW14-15 campaign. It embodies the Italian fashion house's keen foresight, dedicated to a "new leadership generation." Titled after this concept, the film depicts the quest for knowledge and truth through the protagonist, Stefan, who transforms from a talented young man into a leader of the next generation. The two men's blend of Eastern and Western cultures is also a key theme of the film. Furthermore, the film's messages of self-awareness and growth are also reflected in the costumes featured in the film. The costumes were selected from Zegna's entire collection under Pilati's creative direction.
Comprised of three episodes, the film was screened in its entirety at the closing event of Shanghai International Fashion Week last month. Director Park is known for his unique storytelling and visual sensibility, and in 2011 he won the Golden Bear for Best Short Film at the Berlin International Film Festival for his short film "Night Fishing," made using an iPhone camera. The screenplay was written by Park, Japanese screenwriter Fumiko Fujitani, and Korean screenwriter Chang Chang Hoon, with British composer Clint Mansell and Argentine cinematographer Natasha Brayer also contributing, and Luca Guadagnino is in charge of production, making this a highly international collaboration.
