The December 1st issue of "Pen" features a special on "Print Magazines, the Soon-to-Become Extinct." While television, the Internet, and other media have taken over print magazines, and viewing them on devices is often considered more convenient than reading them on paper, this issue reveals the true value of print magazines. Packed with magazine topics, from nostalgic titles coveted by magazine lovers to the latest titles, young editors from each magazine appear to introduce the appeal of magazines. In the "Wide and Deep World of Magazines" section, introduced by connoisseurs, Dan Mitsu first appears, discussing "an adult feature she spotted in the waiting room of a dentist's office." Other guests include Hakuhodo Kettle creative director Koichiro Shima, Ryoko Hirosue, who graced the cover of the revived "Boon" magazine after a 14-year hiatus, Oki Sato, president of design office nendo, photographer Herbie Yamaguchi, music producer Masataka Matsutoya, and artist Verbal.

A visit to the editorial office of "dancyu" reveals how a food magazine is made through close interviews with young editors. You can also get a glimpse into the deep world of little magazines that you might come across by chance, foreign magazines that clearly reflect the characteristics of a country or region, and the history of magazines from all over the world, past and present.

The book also includes recommendations for the best spots in Tokyo for magazine lovers, a guide to web magazines to follow now, and more, making you keenly aware of the benefits of paper magazines.
