Shibuya Parco to release forbidden anatomy book. Natural history and botanical art exhibition

An exhibition themed around natural history and botanical art, "Natural History and Botanical Art up to the 19th Century: From Beautiful to Grotesque - Memories of Ephemeral Beauty," will be held at Parco Gallery X in Shibuya from December 16th to December 25th.

The exhibition will showcase natural history and anatomical drawings, as well as "botanical art (miniatures of plants)" that was born from herbal medicine and medicine, using numerous treasured encyclopedias and famous natural history encyclopedias.

Of particular note is the display of an unpublished autopsy book that was previously considered taboo in Christianity and secretly stored among collectors, as well as the antique print "Dance of Death," said to be the origin of the Gothic Lolita boom. Other must-sees include masterpieces by renowned international artists such as Thomas Rowlandson, Hans Holbein, Peter Paul Rubens, and Richard Dagley, as well as a special, limited-edition giant illustrated guide to natural history, "The Collection of Masterpieces from the Natural World" (6 million yen).
