Isetan Shinjuku Main Building, 5th Floor Living Room, will be showcasing items to brighten up the New Year of 2021. We have a selection of small plates for the new normal era and humorous items to help you welcome the New Year with a smile.


"Small Plate Exhibition" Brings Together Small Plates by Approximately 50 Artists
We have gathered adorable small plates by approximately 50 artists and workshops, made in a variety of materials and designs, including ceramics, porcelain, and glass, that you'll want to use every day. We will be showcasing a wide variety of unique small plates that will brighten up your dining table and bring joy to your New Year's celebrations.

To help you welcome in the festive New Year, we have prepared four types of plates, featuring traditional patterns decorated with gold, silver and platinum, with motifs such as fruit shapes and Mt. Fuji.

Born in Nagoya / Graduated from Aichi Prefectural Ceramics Technical College / Studied Oribe ware at a pottery studio in Akazu, Seto City.

When she first started pottery, she was inspired by the "wonderful milky white" of the painter Tsuguharu Foujita, and this inspired her to start creating using white porcelain clay. She strives for meticulous, careful handwork, typical of the Japanese style.

Born in Nagano Prefecture / Studied pottery in Seto City, Aichi Prefecture

Born in Niigata Prefecture in 1985 / Graduated from Aichi Prefectural Ceramics Technical College. He then studied overglaze painting under Tomonori Okawa.

"Glamorous and Harmonious" brings together recommended New Year's items for the start of 2021

A bento box made using hinoki cypress that has been thinned out in the Kumano Forest, a World Heritage Site in Wakayama Prefecture. The lid has a cute marquetry design, made from a combination of various types of wood to create a pattern. ■New Year's holiday hours

Isetan Shinjuku will open at 10:00 AM and close at 5:00 PM on Thursday, December 31st.
In addition, the event hall on the 6th floor of the Main Building will open at 9:00 AM and close at 5:00 PM, and the grocery store on the 1st basement floor of the Main Building will open at 9:00 AM and close at 6:00 PM.
The store will be closed on Friday, January 1st (national holiday).
The New Year's sale will begin on Saturday, January 2nd at 10:00 AM. We will be open until 6:00 PM.
