Ann Demeulemeester's first book. A 2,000-page oversized hardcover tracing history with a variety of photographs

Nov 25, 2014

"ANN DEMEULEMEESTER" (¥13,000), a book unravelling the creations of renowned Belgian fashion designer Ann Demeulemeester, has been released.

Ann Demeulemeester, who gained attention as one of the "Antwerp Six" along with five other graduates of the Antwerp Royal Academy of Fine Arts, founded her brand in 1985. Since founding her brand, she has garnered popularity for her poetic storytelling, designs that rebel against luxury trends, elegant tailoring, and dark, romantic worldview. In 2013, she left the brand, citing a desire to prioritize her personal time.

This 2,000-page hardcover book explores Ann Demeulemeester's work and design process. Featuring over 1,000 photos from her collection, the book defies conventional fashion book conventions in terms of volume, specifications, and layout.

In Japan, the collection is available at Ann Demeulemeester's Omotesando Hills store, Isetan Shinjuku store, Umeda Hankyu store, and Dover Street Market Ginza (DSMG). A large number of fans flocked to the autograph session held at DSMG on November 20th, where Ann was seen happily signing autographs and posing for snaps. The collection also reportedly sold out immediately at the Dover Street Market stores in London and New York.
