Mayu Uemura is a model and Instagrammer who is attracting attention from fashion-conscious people. She loves fashion, travel, and music, and is such a big music fan that she posts her favorite Spotify playlists on her Instagram.

We asked Uemura about how she enjoys music at home and her impressions of Spotify's new "Sing Along" feature. Here are some of the app-exclusive articles!

Enjoy Relaxing Time at Home with Music

"I use Spotify regularly. It's especially indispensable when I'm commuting to work.


Uemura says that one way to enjoy music at home is to play records by his favorite artists. In his new home, which he recently moved into, he was equipped with a retro record player from ION Audio.


The music booth resembles a stylish cafe. Records by various artists are lined up, and Uemura says he particularly likes the one by H.E.R. in the top left.

"When I use Spotify at home, I often connect it to the TV and enjoy it.
I discover new artists on Spotify, then switch to YouTube to watch live performances, or even dance in front of the TV (laughs)," says Uemura.
"The playlists I often listen to on Spotify are 'Low-Key,' 'Next Wave Neo-Soul,' and 'Discover Weekly.'
I like jazz, hip-hop, R&B, and more, so I listen to a lot of Western music," says Uemura.

"When I'm cooking or cleaning at home, I tend to listen to Western jazz music. But when I'm commuting to work, I listen to K-Pop bands like TWICE and BLACKPINK and sing along to get myself pumped up," says Uemura.
"Spotify has a 'Made for You' feature that recommends similar music based on your past artists and playlist history. I often discover new artists or songs I like, so I use it the most," says Uemura.

Enjoy Karaoke at Home with "Sing Along"

Uemura not only loves listening to music, but also singing. In these times when it's difficult to go to karaoke, we asked participants to use Spotify's "Sing Along" feature, which allows them to enjoy the karaoke atmosphere at home.

When talking with friends online, playing their favorite music in the background often helps to liven up the atmosphere.
"I often sing '90s J-POP at karaoke, and I've created a playlist of my favorite Japanese music.
When I sing along, I choose from the Japanese playlist rather than Western music." (Uemura)

This time, we selected UA's "Jounetsu."


Tap the area where the lyrics are displayed and turn off the microphone button to complete the process. If you set the microphone (artist's singing voice) volume to 0, the artist's voice will be completely muted and only the sound will remain.


"I thought this would be great for year-end parties and Christmas parties this coming season. It's also a great way to relieve stress at home and practice karaoke solo. I think many people will be having more home parties as the New Year approaches, so I hope you'll enjoy singing along to karaoke at home!" (Uemura)
