Hermès celebrates its heritage with the colors of painter Kirchner [Women's Fall/Winter 2017-18]

Mar 18, 2017

Nadége Vanhee-Cybulski's Hermès women's collection for Fall/Winter 2017-18 was presented at the Palais de Chaillot in Paris. The collection offered a playful style, incorporating details inspired by the world of equestrianism, Hermès's roots. While the collection featured elegant pieces crafted from the finest materials, the collection also featured a wide variety of designs, sprinkled with elements of jockey uniforms and workwear. The collection also showcased styling that unified the color palette within a single look. A beautiful color palette of greens and purples borrowed from the paintings of German Expressionist painter Ernst Ludwig Kirchner was featured. Many of the prints featured reinterpretations of designs by Louis Bokan, who designed silk for Hermès in the 1960s and 1970s, delighting the eye with their colors and motifs.

Sporty yet elegant items such as a knit top with details taken from jockey's wear, a coat inspired by a blanket used for horse riding, and a Kazak-style silk blouse were eye-catching. There was also a vest with a belt on the back, inspired by the leather aprons worn by the atelier's craftsmen. All of these pieces are unique to Hermès, but were skillfully finished in a contemporary fashion.
