Gallery AaMo, a multi-purpose gallery for adults that offers fun and entertainment, has opened in Tokyo Dome City. To commemorate this, a special opening event, "Rhizomatiks Research x ELEVENPLAY Dance Installation at Gallery AaMo," will be held on April 15th and 16th, in collaboration with Rhizomatiks Research, led by media artists Daito Manabe and Motoi Ishibashi, and ELEVENPLAY, a dance company led by director and choreographer MIKIKO.
The collaboration between Rhizomatiks Research and ELEVENPLAY sees Rhizomatiks Research applying the knowledge and technical skills it has cultivated through its media art works to large-scale entertainment performances and international festival ceremonies, directed by MIKIKO, spreading the wonder of media art to many people. Last year, he created the performance "border," which utilized AR technology to turn the installation space into a stage, and his drone performance piece "24drones" was invited to appear on NBC's open audition program "America's Got Talent (AGT) Season 11," earning him worldwide acclaim.
The installation being unveiled this time is "phosphere." Named after the space, place, and sphere created by light, the event uses special software to create a complex space using the light of numerous projectors. It is a new genre of dance installation, with dancers and objects entering into it.
