A bread festival for bread lovers, the aptly named "ISEPAN!" kicked off on March 29th at the event space on the 6th floor of the Isetan Shinjuku Main Building. As befits a bread festival, not only will renowned boulangeries from across Japan be exhibiting, but special workshops will also be set up on-site, creating an environment where visitors can sample freshly baked bread. For these six days, Isetan Shinjuku will become a "holy land for bread lovers." The highlight of the event is the visit of chefs from renowned boulangeries that draw long lines: Poulangerie Parisgo (Tennoji, Osaka), Vilon (Shibuya, Tokyo), and Bon Vivon (Shin-Yurigaoka, Kanagawa). They will be demonstrating and selling the "winning bread" they will be exhibiting at the Mondial du Pain 2017, a global bread competition to be held in France. This will be a collaboration that would otherwise never be possible, allowing for a truly dreamlike dine-in experience. The next highlight of the event will be a live demonstration by six chefs from Kobe Boulangerie Club, located in the city of bread, Kobe, each day. This is your chance to sample different types of bread from "Sa Marche Bread and Living," "Le Pan Kobe Kitano," "Boulangerie Recolte," "Köln," "Escale," and "Isuzu Bakery," all without leaving Tokyo. There will also be a food court titled "World Bread Collection," featuring specialty breads from around the world. Experience the taste buds as you compare scones, hamburgers, margheritas, and even Japanese fruit sandwiches, all while feeling like you're traveling the world. Of course, coffee and alcoholic beverages perfectly paired with the menu will also be available. In addition, the "Specialty Bread Corner" will feature a lineup of popular shops, including "Levain," "Boulangerie Pomme," and "Champagne☆Bakery," selling specialty breads. Levain, making its first appearance at the event, will be selling campagne by weight.
In addition to this, there will be a "Bread Companion" corner selling Echire butter, Pick's peanut butter, da ROMA olive oil, and Ranmas cheese, a "Delicious Bread" corner with a selection of bread from famous shops in the Kanto and Kansai areas, an eat-in area offering a side sandwich using a baguette of the day and all-you-can-eat bread, and a talk show related to bread. The event will run until April 3rd.
