On March 6th, Abe Chitose's sacai held its Fall/Winter 2017-18 women's collection show at the Grand Palais. The collection, titled "A day in the life—a woman's wardrobe for morning, night, and every occasion. Reimagined without being bound by conventional notions of women's clothing," featured a twist on existing pieces, transforming them into something completely new. Military bombers were combined with pleated fabrics to create formal dresses, while bomber-style zip-up skirts were given a feminine touch with floral embroidery. While feminine pieces offered just the right amount of sheerness, such as a bathrobe-style chiffon dress and a see-through chiffon and tweed dress, the collection also oscillated between masculine and feminine, with pieces like a ski down jacket with voluminous backsides. Other eye-catching items included a patchwork tweed shirt with gathered backs to create volume, and a shirt dress with numerous zippers. Also noteworthy was the brand's first eyewear collaboration with Linda Farrow. The brand's original philosophy of wearing what you want, when you want, how you want was firmly adhered to, resulting in a collection that evokes the image of a woman celebrating freedom.
