On January 21st, sacai presented its Fall/Winter 2017-18 men's collection and Pre-Autumn 2017 women's collection in Paris. The show took place at Art Space 104 in Paris's 19th arrondissement. Focusing on "cut-up," a poetic collage technique developed by novelist William Seward Burroughs, the collection incorporated the cut-up technique into clothing. Sacai's experimental approach included combining previously uncoordinated pieces and incorporating inconsistent details, resulting in new aesthetics. In addition to playing with details within a single piece, such as a houndstooth blouson with a leather coat collar or a denim jacket decorated with braid, the collection also played with the structure of clothing, introducing both local and global changes. These included a top combining an Aran knit with a plain knit, and a knitted down jacket. However, these attempts were made subtly, so they didn't feel out of place, and the accumulation of small changes was very pleasant to look at. There were also some novel items, such as an innovative poncho made by wrapping and fastening a single piece of fabric, and MA-1 jackets and long jackets in collaboration with The North Face, Sacai's first collaboration, making this a collection with many highlights.
